"Kissing You" - Des'ree [Romeo & Juliet Soundtrack]

The Song of the Day was going to be "You Gotta Be", then I started searching for a link to send you to so you can hear it and I remembered this. It's kind of heavy for a Sunday morning but you've got to admit, it has a sort of hymnic appeal right? I swear Romeo & Juliet was like the first "serious" movie I saw growing up, that and The Basketball Diaries [I was a Leonardo DiCaprio FEIND]. Des'ree was born and raised in London became somewhat of a mega popstar over there. In '95 she did an American tour with Seal and the following year she would contribute "Kissing You" to the R & J soundtrack. She's also a legal hound, Des'ree sued Beyonce' Knowles for her "Still In Love [Kissing You]" version of the hit she dropped for the re-release of B'Day AND got an undisclosed amount of money from Janet Jackson for "Got 'Til It's Gone" off her Velvet Rope album, some music biz mumbo-jumbo. I wonder what she's doing now, maybe suing Grace Jones for looking like her. [???]

"Nicest Thing" - Kate Nash [Made of Bricks]

It's like Lily Allen and James Blunt 'ad a baby! Kate Nash is very young and has a very long career ahead of her. Made of Bricks, her first album is platinum in the UK. If you didn't know, it's tough for your album to go plat over there so that's no small feat. Her song "Dickhead" is interesting and all I could think to myself is this is something Alicia Keys would sing if she had freedom of expression..and a brain. [WOOPS!] Kate's been around for a minute but I haven't really given her a listen until lately, I'm satisfied, you?

Am I the only person who types Google in the search engine EVEN WHEN I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO???!
