Phillips Exeter Academy Library - Louis Kahn
Louis Kahn is a TROUBLED man, well was, he died at an old age in Penn Station in 1974. He's responsible for loads of dope buildings that no one who doesn't occupy them or love architecture would know about. My favorite is the one pictured above [galactic right?] and the Kimbell Art Museum. The art museum is completely lit by natural sunlight during the day. [HUGE fan of natural sunlight] Kahn pulled is inspiration from ancient ruins [as in RUINS, not whatever stood before] which explains his detail in lighting, mass and space. His body went unidentified for three days because he crossed out the address in his passport after he returned from a trip to India working on the Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban, the National Assembly Building of Bangladesh.
he was also a baby daddy.
